Planning for our youth & children

We value the children of our church, and we are committed to building sustainable youth and children’s ministries that are going to have a deep impact. We have an exciting partnership with Ministry Architects, a leading consulting firm, to help us develop these important ministries.

In May 2018, Ministry Architects listened to more than 120 people in confidential groups. They spoke with parents, youth, children and youth volunteers, staff, vestry and parishioners who are vested in our church’s future. They then shared with the parish what they’ve heard about the youth and children’s ministries – including assets, challenges, how we compare to children’s ministries around the country, and a blueprint for moving forward.

Ministry Architects is currently working with a group of lay leaders, the Renovation Team, to develop and implement a plan for our children and youth programming. They held their first meeting in July to lay the foundation for rebuilding the youth and children’s ministries over the course of the next 18 months.  During that time, they identified specific resources available at St. Mark’s and discussed how to best support Avery William, Interim Youth Ministry Coordinator and Frances Hutto, Interim Children’s Ministry Coordinator, as they kick off an exciting fall for our youth and children.  In the coming months, the Renovation Team will meet monthly, with the objective of building a framework for a sustainable and meaningful ministry.
