The Buford Bowen Conference celebrates the life and legacy of Buford Bowen, a devoted lay leader of St. Mark’s whose passion for raising up leaders, nurturing faith, and serving with joy continues to shape our parish community.

This conference is for anyone looking to deepen, strengthen, or be more honest in their relationship with God.  “East of Eden” isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s an invitation to become more aware of where God is already meeting you—and to discover that healing can be a journey back home. 

Healing What’s Within: Coming Home to Yourself—and to God—When You’re Wounded, Weary, and Wandering

Each conference participant will receive a copy of Chuck DeGroat’s Healing What’s Within.

The book invites readers to gently explore hidden hurt, understand the relationship between body and emotion, experience God as a compassionate presence in wounded places, and rediscover connection with God, others, and themselves.

Kick off the weekend with dinner, worship, and teaching as we embark on our journey of East of Eden: Healing, Wholeness, Homecoming. 

Keep the journey going with teaching, worship, personal reflection, conversation, and community. Continental breakfast and lunch are provided.

Close the weekend with an unforgettable performance by Duo Beaux Arts, featuring virtuoso pianists Catherine Lan and Tao Lin. Their program will include classical works for two pianos by Saint-Saëns and Schubert.
