“When God’s Plan Looks Like Failure” - 5pm The River Service
This sermon addresses how believers can continue trusting and worshiping God when His plans appear to have failed, reminding us that we can never understand the whole story by looking only at the chapter of life we are currently experiencing. Drawing from Romans 11 and the history of Israel, it shows that circumstances that appeared to threaten God’s promises—including Israel’s rejection of Jesus—were actually woven into His larger plan of redemption, bringing salvation to the nations through Christ. When suffering, disappointment, or failure causes us to question God, the cross assures us of His character and love, allowing us to trust that He sees what we cannot and is faithfully writing a story far greater than the one visible to us. Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to surrender their need to understand every circumstance and instead rest in the God who sees the entire story, trusting that even chapters that look like failure can become part of something beautiful in His sovereign hands.
