Writing from prison to a suffering church in Philippi, Paul shows how hardship, seen through our relationship with Jesus, can become a place of purpose and even joy. Christians were never meant to suffer alone. They are called to stand firm in one spirit, striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, trusting God's sovereignty and letting trials draw them closer to Christ and to one another.
