This sermon uses the rhythm of evening and morning to show how Romans 13 invites Christians into a daily life centered on Jesus, beginning with the question, “What do I owe?” and recognizing that our continuing debt to others is love, forgiveness, grace, and reconciliation. Paul’s call to “wake from sleep” reminds believers that they are people of the dawn who should approach each new day with hope and purpose, recognizing that salvation is drawing nearer and God is continually giving them a fresh opportunity to live for Him. Ultimately, the sermon encourages Christians to “put on Christ” each morning—laying aside the works of darkness, clothing themselves in the armor of light, and allowing the love and character of Jesus to shape every interaction throughout the day.
