The Freedom of Humility - 5pm The River Service

This sermon teaches that pride is a deeply rooted self-orientation that continually draws our attention back to ourselves, while true humility is not thinking poorly of ourselves or merely changing our behavior, but thinking of ourselves less. Sequence 01 Using Jesus’ example in Philippians 2, it explains that Christ’s humility flowed from knowing securely who He was before the Father, allowing Him to empty Himself, serve others, and ultimately give Himself on the cross—and believers are likewise freed to live humbly when their identity is secure in Christ. Sequence 01 Ultimately, humility cannot be manufactured through greater self-effort; it develops as believers surrender to God, fix their eyes on Jesus, and are gradually transformed into His likeness by becoming more captivated with Him and less consumed with themselves.
