“Whose Image Do You Bear?” - 5pm The River Service

Oct 18, 2026  •  The Rev. Billy Cerveny

This sermon teaches that our true identity and worth are not found in personal achievements, social status, or the false images we create to gain acceptance, but in the profound truth that we are created in the image of God and belong to Him. Drawing from Matthew 22 and Jesus’ instruction to give Caesar what belongs to Caesar and God what belongs to God, it reveals that humanity bears God's image and is called to reflect His character, authority, and purposes rather than pursuing our own glory. Ultimately, the sermon reminds believers that Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled what humanity could not, restoring us as God's image bearers through His sacrifice and the Holy Spirit, freeing us to abandon false identities, embrace who we truly are in Christ, and live authentically for His glory.
