"The Cross-Shaped Life" - 5pm The River Service

Oct 4, 2026  •  The Rev. Dr. Sandi Kerner

This sermon teaches that our standing before God is not based on religious accomplishments, outward appearances, or personal credentials, but on knowing Jesus Christ and receiving the righteousness and grace that come through Him alone. Sequence 01 Through the examples of Paul and Saint Francis, it describes the Christian calling as a cruciform, cross-shaped life—laying ourselves down in humility, compassion, obedience, and service so that Christ’s love can reach those who are suffering and in need. Sequence 01 Sequence 01 Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to be humble enough to receive Christ’s healing, mercy, and grace for themselves and then allow Him to send them out as His hands and feet to care for others and help rebuild a broken church and world.
