Genesis 6:1-4, with its sons of God and Nephilim, is usually skipped in Sunday school, but this session treats it as the second cosmic rebellion. Reading it in its ancient Near Eastern setting, Rev. Cerveny explains the sons of God as members of God's divine council who crossed the Creator's boundaries, sees the flood as judgment on pervasive corruption, and points to Christ as the true image of God who restores that image in us.
