Rev. Charlie Holt reflects on Jesus’ call, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people,” exploring how discipleship begins with invitation, unfolds through formation, and leads to mission. Set against the backdrop of political danger, spiritual darkness, and the margins of Galilee, Holt shows how Jesus enters places of fear, brokenness, and surrender to bring light and call ordinary people to Himself. Through vivid stories of fishing and perseverance, he illustrates how Jesus patiently shapes His followers over time, transforming their skills, experiences, and vocations for the purposes of God’s kingdom. The sermon invites believers to trust Christ’s slow, faithful work of formation and to allow Him to send them into the world to seek those still lost and waiting for hope.
