"Turn Again: The Invitation of Lent" - 9 a.m. Traditional Eucharist 02/22/2026
Rev. Dr. Sandi Kerner opens the Lenten season by calling the church to wakefulness, repentance, and renewed dependence on Jesus. Drawing from the fiery preaching of 18th‑century revivalist George Whitefield, she warns against spiritual complacency and invites believers to stand again beneath the cross and remember their deep need for a Savior. Reflecting on Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness, she shows how Christ faced—and defeated—the same lies, doubts, and deceptions that confront us, resisting every temptation with the truth of Scripture. Sandi urges the congregation to name honestly the burdens, sins, resentments, and false identities they cling to, and to release them into the hands of Jesus—the One who never leaves us in our wilderness. Through a symbolic gesture of opening our hands, she invites us to turn again to God, embrace His mercy, and walk in newness of life this Lent, trusting Him as the gracious Lover of souls who is mighty to save.
