“When the Waves Get Bigger” - 10am Traditional Eucharist

Aug 9, 2026    The Rev. Charlie Holt

This sermon teaches that salvation is not a complicated achievement reserved for certain people, but a gracious gift available to everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord and places their faith in Jesus Christ. Drawing from Romans 10, it emphasizes that God shows no favoritism and that believers can confidently call out to Him in every circumstance, knowing that He is near and ready to meet them in their need. Through the story of Peter walking on water, the message illustrates how fear can overwhelm faith when we take our eyes off Jesus, yet even when we begin to sink, we need only cry, “Lord, save me,” and Christ reaches out to us. Ultimately, the sermon calls Christians not only to trust this promise themselves but also to carry the good news into their families, friendships, and communities so that others can know that God loves them and that everyone who calls upon Him will be saved.
